Deanna S.

Deanna is an Ottawa-born soprano and music educator. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice from Carleton University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Toronto.
 
Throughout her studies, Deanna performed extensively with opera and choral ensembles and pursued advanced training both in Canada and internationally. She has studied at the Florence Voice Seminar in Italy, the Accademia Arte e Vita program in Breno, and the Orford Music Academy, with a particular focus on French and German repertoire.
 
An accomplished competitor, Deanna has received First Prize at the ORMTA Ottawa Regional Voice Competition and Second Prize at the provincial level. She also won her class at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition and was awarded the NATS Senior Scholarship.
 
Deanna is deeply involved in Ottawa’s musical community. She has appeared as a guest soloist in a variety of settings, performed the national anthem for Carleton University convocation ceremonies and varsity games, and currently serves as Assistant to the Director of the Carleton University Choir. She also works professionally in arts administration at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre.
 
As a teacher, Deanna emphasizes healthy technique, musicality, and confidence-building. She focuses on developing strong foundations while helping students grow into expressive, well-supported singers.
