Sumaya is a certified Music Therapist with experience working with children, teens, and seniors of diverse abilities using music to reach their creative goals. Sumaya has often helped her clients by teaching them through the music they love.
Sumaya began to learn the violin in middle school, which ignited her passion for music. Sumaya also studied the violin at Canterbury High School and Wilfrid Laurier University. She plays the piano and guitar, and often uses them to accompany her singing.
Sumaya’s teaching philosophy is a mix of the Suzuki method and a student-centered approach, adapting to work with each student’s unique strengths and needs.
With a deep understanding of the impact of music on people’s lives, Sumaya looks forward to serving the Ottawa community through teaching and making musical memories.
